PRINCE2 Agile is a framework that aligns the independent PRINCE2 and Agile frameworks thereby providing greater management visibility and support. It is a tool that corrects the deficiencies in either PRINCE2 or Agile frameworks on an individual basis.

This communication tool enables the Board members to know the status of the project work in this era of ever-changing technologies. This helps them to be very responsive as regards maintaining their business value and retaining their partners or clients as the case may be. It is an essential tool.

PRINCE2 Agile combines PRINCE2 and Agile frameworks in such a way that both maintain the basis of PRINCE2 method essentials and delivers the efficiencies and core values of the Agile method.

PRINCE2 Agile is “Agile agnostic,” and are best suited for organization and projects. PRINCE2 Agile achieves the integrated approach of well-managed business outcomes with high-level productivity and value-driven focus by developing necessary requirements for projects to adhere to thereby enabling the flexibility to ascertain roles, processes, and artifacts needed specifically for each project.

The PRINCE2 framework also defines specific project roles and responsibilities that are necessary. Though the framework seems more like having PRINCE2 and Agile methods working concurrently but the principles of PRINCE2 Agile makes the approach very powerful. To implement the necessary principles, the following authorities: the executive who represents the senior management interest, the senior users who represent the target audience, and the senior suppliers who represent the external and internal team delivering the required outputs, are so needed to foster understanding, application, and productivity.

Seven processes that comprise the full project lifecycle of the PRINCE2 method are: starting up a project, directing a project, initiating a project, controlling a stage, managing product delivery, managing stage boundaries, and closing a project. All of which are adaptable to suit the method.

Seven principles guide all of the project work in the PRINCE2 framework. These principles help the PRINCE2 achieves its objectives.

There’s an important distinction in PRINCE2 Agile which is primarily the servant leadership roles where the project delivery team is directly responsible for managing their work, with the support of the project and team managers.

PRINCE2 Agile fosters – and relies upon – an environment of transparency, collaboration, communication, exploration, self-organization, and accountability. The core principles are expanded in PRINCE2 Agile to be very inclusive.
